Education and Orphan Programs: Supporting Sham and Maria’s Learning in Khan Younis

Through HEAL Palestine’s Education Pillar, and in coordination with our Orphan Program, our team provided targeted educational support to orphaned children in Khan Younis, reinforcing their ability to continue learning despite ongoing challenges.

With the participation of the Education Program Coordinator, the visit focused on ensuring that children enrolled in the Orphan Program have the basic tools and support needed to remain engaged in their education, an essential component of long-term stability and recovery.

During the visit, our team spent time with two orphaned girls, Sham and Maria, whose access to education had been disrupted. Their needs were simple but critical: a board, pens, and basic stationery to help them continue learning.

These materials were provided during the visit, enabling them to resume their studies in a more structured and supported way. At the same time, the interaction reinforced an important aspect of HEAL’s approach, ensuring that children feel supported not only materially, but also through consistent presence and follow-up.

This moment reflects how HEAL’s programs operate together on the ground. The Education Pillar provides the framework for learning, while the Orphan Program ensures that children facing the most difficult circumstances receive individualized support that allows them to access and benefit from it.

Through this integrated model, HEAL Palestine continues to support children not only in returning to education, but in sustaining it as part of their broader path toward recovery and stability.
