Global Healing Expands to Mexico: Muath Among First to Begin Treatment

Muath, 15, was evacuated from Gaza last week with his mother and sister, marking the beginning of a new phase in his recovery journey. After arriving safely in Cairo, HEAL Palestine’s team supported the family with immediate essentials, including clothing, after they lost everything while fleeing Gaza.

Muath lost his leg in a bombing. Now, through HEAL Palestine’s Global Healing Program, he is preparing to travel to Mexico City, where he will receive a prosthetic limb and begin the next stage of his rehabilitation.

This moment represents more than a single case. It marks an important expansion of HEAL Palestine’s medical response, as the Global Healing Program extends to Mexico to increase access to life-changing care for injured children.

For children like Muath, recovery depends on access to specialized services that are not available in Gaza. This includes prosthetic design and fitting, rehabilitation therapy, and ongoing medical supervision. By expanding partnerships beyond traditional locations, HEAL is creating new pathways to ensure that more children can receive the care they urgently need.

The program also ensures that families are supported throughout the process, covering housing, meals, travel, and daily needs so that children can focus fully on their recovery.

Muath’s journey reflects both the urgency of the need and the importance of building scalable solutions. As more children are identified for evacuation and treatment, expanding access to countries like Mexico becomes critical to sustaining and growing this life-saving work.

Through this effort, HEAL Palestine continues to adapt, expand, and respond, ensuring that children affected by severe injuries are not left without a path to healing.
