HEAL Palestine Distributes School Bags to Over 10,000 Children Across the West Bank

As a new school year begins, HEAL Palestine is reaching more than 10,000 children across the West Bank with school bags and supplies, part of a season-wide push to get students into classrooms prepared for the year ahead.
In Tulkarem, 2,250 school bags went to displaced children from Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps, who started the new school year with the supplies they needed: notebooks, stationery, and a bag to carry it all in.
A further 2,018 school bags are being distributed across Ramallah and its surrounding villages, including Qalandia Camp, Al-Am’ari Camp, and villages northwest of Jerusalem, in partnership with the Stars of Hope Society, the Palestinian Child Club, and the Palestine Red Crescent Society. These reach orphans, children with disabilities, and children from families with limited financial means.
The start of a school year brings a set of costs that many families cannot absorb. Bags, supplies, and basic materials add up quickly, and for households already stretched thin, those costs can determine whether a child walks into a classroom prepared or arrives without what they need. For orphans, children with disabilities, and families displaced from the camps, who already face additional barriers to consistent school attendance, that gap matters even more.
Partnering with the Stars of Hope Society, the Palestinian Child Club, and the Palestine Red Crescent Society allowed the distribution to reach children across a wide geographic area, from refugee camps to villages, through organizations with established ties to the communities they serve. That local knowledge is what ensures bags reach the children who most need them.
A school bag is a small thing. It is also the first sign to a child that the year ahead has been prepared for, and that someone expected them to show up.
This distribution is part of HEAL Palestine’s Education Pillar and its ongoing work to keep Palestinian children in school and equipped to learn.
