HEAL Palestine School Marathon Highlights Every Child’s Right to Education in Gaza

HEAL Palestine School in Khan Younis organized a 500-meter student marathon with one clear message: the right to education belongs to every child.
More than 200 children participated in the event, including children who have lost one or both parents, children with medical conditions, and children with special needs. Together, they ran not only as students, but as children reclaiming movement, confidence, and community in the middle of Gaza’s ongoing hardship.
For children in Gaza, education has been repeatedly disrupted by displacement, destruction, and instability. Schools have been damaged, families have been uprooted, and many children are carrying grief, injury, illness, and trauma. In this context, a school activity is never just an activity. It is a statement that children still deserve structure, learning, joy, and the chance to grow.
The marathon created a space where students could participate, encourage one another, and experience the strength of belonging. It also reflected HEAL Palestine’s commitment to inclusive education, ensuring that children facing loss, disability, medical challenges, or displacement are not left behind.
Through its Education Pillar, HEAL Palestine continues to support safe learning spaces, student activities, school supplies, psychosocial support, and programs that help children remain connected to education despite the conditions around them.
The 500-meter marathon at HEAL Palestine School carried a simple message with deep meaning: every child in Gaza has the right to learn, participate, and build a future.
