HEAL Palestine School Summer Camp Supports 1,500 Children in South Gaza

HEAL Palestine School in Mawasi, Khan Younis is running a summer camp for 1,500 children across South Gaza, helping students recover from significant learning loss while giving them space to learn, play, and experience the rhythm of childhood again.
Nearly 30% of the children participating in the camp are orphans, amputees, or children with special needs, making this program an important part of HEAL Palestine’s broader commitment to inclusive, child-centered support.
For children in Gaza, education has been deeply disrupted by war, displacement, and the destruction of school infrastructure. Many students have gone months without consistent learning, while also carrying the emotional weight of loss, injury, and instability. The summer camp provides a structured and safe environment where children can begin reconnecting with education through active, engaging, and age-appropriate activities.
The camp combines learning with play, helping children strengthen academic skills while also rebuilding confidence, social connection, and a sense of routine. For many students, simply being able to gather with peers, participate in activities, and feel part of a school community is a meaningful step toward healing.
This effort reflects the purpose of HEAL Palestine’s Education Pillar: to restore access to learning for children whose futures have been interrupted, while ensuring that the most vulnerable students are not left behind.
At HEAL Palestine School, education is not only about lessons and classrooms. It is about safety, dignity, recovery, and giving children the chance to imagine a future beyond the hardship around them.
