Maxillofacial Surgery Mission Supports Patients and Local Medical Teams in Tulkarem

HEAL Palestine’s Maxillofacial Surgery Mission in Tulkarem has come to an end, after supporting patients and strengthening local surgical capacity in the West Bank during an especially difficult time.

The mission was led by Dr. Conor W. Witty, a New York-based maxillofacial surgeon, and Dr. Rania Habib, a Washington, DC-based maxillofacial surgeon and longtime HEAL Palestine volunteer. Together, they gave their time and expertise to provide specialized care for patients while also working alongside local medical teams.

Maxillofacial surgery is a highly specialized field that treats injuries, conditions, and complications affecting the face, jaw, mouth, and related structures. For patients in the West Bank, access to this level of care can be limited, especially as hospitals and healthcare workers continue operating under immense pressure.

Through this mission, HEAL Palestine helped expand access to specialized surgical care while also supporting knowledge exchange and hands-on training for local staff. This approach is central to HEAL Palestine’s Health Pillar, which focuses not only on direct medical treatment, but also on strengthening the Palestinian healthcare system through training, mentorship, and long-term capacity building.
