Nearly 99,000 Pairs of Shoes Reach Families Across Gaza, Donated by the People of Bangladesh

Thousands of families across Gaza are walking in new shoes today. A donation from the people of Bangladesh totaling 98,964 pairs of shoes is reaching families from north to south. Crocs and underwear for all ages are going out to families in shelters, medical staff in hospitals, and students in schools.
Shoes are among the items that quietly disappear during prolonged displacement. Families who fled with little have worn the same pairs through months of moving between shelters, walking long distances over rubble and rough ground. Children outgrow what they have. Nothing gets replaced, because there is nothing to replace it with and no money to buy it. The result is injuries, infections, and a daily indignity that compounds everything else.
Distributing across shelters, hospitals, and schools meant the shoes reached three groups at once: displaced families living in camps, the medical staff working long shifts to keep Gaza’s health services running, and students returning to classrooms.
A pair of shoes is an ordinary thing. In Gaza right now, it is also protection, dignity, and the ability to walk without pain.
