Rehabilitating Rozan’s Shelter After Her Return to Gaza

Donate to HEAL Palestine
Every donation is a step toward HEALing and empowering the children of Gaza. Thank you for supporting our mission!
Rozan is 15 years old. She lost her parents and siblings in a bombing in Gaza, becoming both an orphan and an amputee.
Through HEAL Palestine’s Global Healing Program, Rozan received treatment in Houston and continued her care in Egypt. After months of medical support, rehabilitation, and recovery outside Gaza, she returned home carrying both the strength of what she had survived and the daily challenges of life as a young amputee.
But the home she returned to could not meet her needs.
For a child living with limb loss, shelter is not only about having a roof overhead. It must also provide safety, privacy, accessibility, and dignity. Without basic adaptations, everyday needs such as bathing, moving through the space, and maintaining personal independence become far more difficult.
Through Project Hope, HEAL Palestine rehabilitated Rozan’s shelter to better support her recovery and daily life. The work included installing an accessible bathroom, building a privacy enclosure, and completing interior upgrades to create a safer and more dignified living space.
This support reflects HEAL Palestine’s holistic approach to care. A child’s healing does not end when treatment abroad is complete. For children like Rozan, recovery continues after they return to Gaza, where they need accessible shelter, follow-up care, emotional support, and a living environment that protects their dignity.
Rozan’s story brings together several parts of HEAL Palestine’s work: the Global Healing Program, the Amputee Program, the Orphan Program, and emergency shelter support through the Aid Pillar. Each part responds to a different need, but together they create a more complete path of care.
Through Project Hope, HEAL Palestine is helping Rozan continue her recovery in a space that is safer, more private, and better suited to her needs.
After everything she has endured, Rozan deserves more than survival. She deserves dignity, accessibility, and the chance to rebuild her life one day at a time.
